Will manage the admission desk, public educational programs and help with administrative tasks. The Visitor Experience Manager is an energetic, organized team player with a strong commitment to providing the highest quality visitor experience to engage all audiences. The Visitor Experience Manager will foster a warm and welcoming environment for museum visitors, ensuring that they are informed about daily programming and other offerings, including membership. The Visitor Experience Manager must have a passion for planning educational public programs in a museum setting. This position is 16-24 hours a week depending on the time of the year. The Museum is open on weekends in the Spring, Fall, Winter and Tuesday-Sunday in the summer. The Visitor Experience Manager must be available to work a weekend day, some nights depending on the special event and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and sell memberships, admission tickets, gift shop merchandise and provides member support, as needed.
  • Oversee maintenance and utilization of admissions and merchandise software; manage sales transactions, including tracking, reporting, cash management, and opening and closing procedures, ordering gift shop merchandise and oversees inventory
  • Book, staff and manage children's birthday parties, group tours & group visits
  • Schedules & manages admission counter staff and responsible for opening and closing the Museum
  • Create engaging public program content in collaboration with Executive Director and manages the public program delivery
  • Participates in the docent program to ensure all public programs and special events have attentive and engaged volunteer and staff support
  • Assists Executive Director with planning, promoting, scheduling & managing special events

Requirements:

  • Experience in a museum or cultural attraction
  • Associates Degree strongly preferred
  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience in educational public programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively and articulately
  • Great organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Proficient with the google and Microsoft office suite of computer programs, specifically Word and Excel
  • Carrying or lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Highly energetic and motivated

Supervision/Contacts:

  • Receives supervision from Executive Director
  • Daily contact with Museum employees, volunteers and management
  • Daily contact with visitors and outside vendors
  • Will serve in supervisory role with some employees and volunteer

Environment:

  • Employee is subject to inside and occasional outside environmental condition
