History

American LaFrance of Elmira, NY built many medium sized fire engines on a special GMC chassis supplied by General Motors. Typical of the many fire engines used by smaller cities and towns thought the US. This was the first motorized piece of fire apparatus in the town of Bloomfield, CT.

Powered by a Buick 6-cylinder engine and equipped with a ALF 500 GPM rotary type pump this apparatus can still draft and pump as well to this day American LaFrance delivered the truck to Bloomfield in a railroad car in 1931.

In it's last years of service in Bloomfield this truck was used for brush fires at the Dudley Town Road Station.

Donated to the museum by Bloomfield Fire district in 1973.
