Join the Connecticut Trolley Museum for our 2024 Night Photo Shoot. In an effort to add some variety to our night photo shoots, we're continuing to have different photographers run the event. This year's Connecticut Trolley Museum Night Photo Shoot is being led by Tom Nanos of Lebanon, Connecticut. Tom is a widely published author and photographer and has decades of experience photographing the railroading scene after dark, and has run the Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum's (CERM) night shoot in Willimantic for the past 20 years. The event will give photographers opportunities to photograph using ambient light through dusk, and as things get darker, we will augment the available lighting with LED constant lighting as well as studio strobes. Photographers will only need to bring their camera, a cable release/remote shutter trigger, and a tripod.

Through the evening, we will be visiting a number of spots through the museum property to set up photos. For those that have joined us for one of our night shoots previously, some locations will be familiar, but we do have a couple new ideas in mind to mix things up. If you've been to Tom's night shoots at CERM in the past dozen or so years, you know how the night usually wraps up - as one of the new angles this year, Tom will be doing something very similar here.

In addition to the scenes featuring the museum's equipment, grounds, and volunteers, this year will add a new facet to a majority of the planned shots during the night shoot. This year we will be having a number of actors join us from the group Steamposh to fill out the seats in the trolleys, as well as on the platforms and interacting with the volunteers. The Steamposh folks will be dressing up in a "dieselpunk" theme - a look that takes steampunk forward a few decades into the early part of the 20th century. The group will be with us through most of the planned scenes, and we will have opportunities to have the actors as large and small groups, as well as individual photos. This is of course will be along with our volunteer motormen and conductors.

It should be a fun evening! Space is limited - be sure to get your tickets early to lock in your spot! If you decide to join us, and as the date approaches, you will be sent some more detailed information on the logistics of the shoot.

Ticket Prices

Tickets must be purchased in advance as no tickets will be available at the Trolley Museum the night of the event.
